Hello all!

Here's a picture of some books that arrived in the post yesterday:

The one underneath with the cover you can't see is just a reprint of Shadow Operations

As you can see, everything's looking lovely, and all the colours have come out in the right order, and so on, and so forth. Here's an excerpt from the Quickstart:

Fun adventure, this. You gotta fake a Bishop

And here's a bit of the Conspiracy Kit, which is bundled with the GM screen:

Everyone loves Margot

And, drumroll please, here's the front cover for SIN itself:

Eagle-eyed readers might have noticed that the title and credits are off-centre - not much, only by about 2mm. But it's just enough to be noticeable, which is tremendously frustrating. The art was centered on the wrong part of the cover template; we were rushing through our confirmation checks to hit a new print deadline, and no one spotted it when we signed off on the proofs. The fault was in our files, which means that it's our issue to correct, and not the printer's. We've done a huge amount of work to get Sin finished, including reworking the files completely to deal with repro issues, and to stumble at the last hurdle like this has been a real blow.

At present we're weighing a few options on what we can do about it; we've still got a little while before the GM screens and the Conspiracy Kit cards are packaged up, so there's time to act. Reprinting the books is out of the question both in terms of cost and waste of materials; we can potentially get a dust cover printed that's aligned correctly to sit over the top, so it'll look right on your shelf. That comes with a much smaller set of costs (design, printing, delivery, paying someone to actually put it over the book and then repackage it, etc) and risks slowing things down again. But we don't have a final amount outlined yet, so until that, we can't confirm any specifics. We'd like to know your opinions, too - what matters most to us is that you get books you're excited to receive, happy to read, and enjoy using at the table.

Anyway.

Whatever happens we're going to start shipping things out soon, so if you live outside of North America you should make sure that your address is up to date on Backerkit. If you live in North America, you've got a bit longer, because we're going to put everything on a boat and ship it over that way. We will, of course, keep you up to date with how long everything is taking and whether your books get stuck in any massive canals.

Yours,

- RRD

March Update
about 2 years ago – Wed, Mar 09, 2022 at 09:40:52 PM

Hello folks,

Bad news I'm afraid - after a string of repro issues with the printer, we've been unable to get print-ready PDFs finished in time for our allotted time on the press. We've managed to secure another window, but unfortunately that means that we'll be moving to fulfill this Kickstarter in early April rather than when we'd originally planned.

Thanks all for your patience; I'm really looking forward to sharing all of this with you!

Cheers,

- Grant

Timeline update
about 2 years ago – Fri, Feb 04, 2022 at 07:35:49 PM

Hello!

- Sin is on general PDF release today, so if you want to tell your most charismatic and richest friends to buy a copy, they can learn all about it here

- We've also opened up pre-orders for Sin, the Magister's Guide, the Conspiracy Kit and the Spire Quickstart through our website, for folks who missed the chance to back the Kickstarter.

- Everything's still on track for our release schedule. We'll be locking orders on February 28th and lock addresses on March 18th. Physical copies should be with people in the UK/EU in April and in the US at SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE once we've got everything on and off a boat. Probably May. We'll let you know.

Right, that's everything.

Magister's Guide!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Jan 14, 2022 at 05:18:35 AM

Check your downloads in Backerkit  - you should now have access to the PDF download of the Magister's Guide.

In other news, printing for late February, and European delivery in March, is still going ahead. We've set up a deal with the folks who printed the Heart map boards to sort out production for the Conspiracy Kit and GM screen, which is good, because we were worried that we'd have to print it ourselves on whatever tree bark and plastic packaging we could scrounge up. You'll be pleased to hear that it's printed by professionals on card and paper, like a real product.

Hopefully we should be able to get everything into the states by April, but it can be hard to move thousands of books across the Atlantic and then convince the US to let them into the country in the current climate. We'll keep you updated as and when we learn more.

That's all for now. Thanks for your patience, and we hope you enjoy putting the additional material in Magister's Guide to good use!

December update
over 2 years ago – Thu, Dec 16, 2021 at 10:23:19 PM

Jingle jingle, it's Christmas chiz chiz penny for the goose et cetera.

Here's the news on how Sin is progressing:

- For those of you not plugged into the exciting world of book manufacturing and logistics, the global situation remains wild, unpredictable and expensive.

- We have managed to confirm paper and printer time, so now likely going to print in February with delivery to UK in March and to the US at SOME POINT AFTER THAT depending on whether boats work and if people will let us put items on them. We will confirm in the new year.

- Remember that cardboard shortage? STILL ONGOING. It means we are looking at different options to make sure we can deliver the Conspiracy Kit alongside everything else. It has to be tough enough to work as a GM screen and available enough to exist, so as you can see we have some difficulties. We THINK we might be able to print it on the stuff that the outside of hardback books is printed on, and that would work. But we'll see. We'd rather compromise on speed than quality.

- Magister's Guide is in editing still. It's very good though, take it from us.  Actually don't take it from us, look at these lovely excerpts:

That's all for now. More when we know it.
